Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal Picture

When my sister, Pat and I came down here the first time back in 1972 or 1973, we and a total of six of us were stuffed in Dad's Cream Coloured Buick Electra 225 Limited.  Coming from the plains of South Jersey and the thick forests there, we weren't quite sure what things were like when we'd arrive but we would go.

The result was that I was struck by a virus, that virus was South Florida.   I have never been able to shake my love for the beauty of the place, and even though some areas have changed it always remained a place that I wanted to call home.

Now I do.

A while back I was going with someone for a drive down to his office to help him out with some networking hardware.  I have a rule, if I leave the house for somewhere new a while back I take the little camera I got in a Woot-off a while back.  Cargo shorts are a wonderful thing.

That trip I got about 20 pictures, so you'll get to see some of the big neighbor to the South, and North... Ok, it surrounds us in Wilton Manors.

This particular view was from the bridge as you're driving East on Sunrise Boulevard to go to the beach in Fort Lauderdale.  I have to wonder how many people who drive that route on any given day cock their heads to the right and ask "What would it be like to move here?".  I did all through the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and planned it through this decade until I got here in 2006.

Parts of South Jersey are amazingly beautiful.  I'm looking forward to eventually returning there for a visit.  I want to drag some of the family along and go to the fire tower at Apple Pie Hill in the Pine Barrens or stick a toe in at Lake Atsion.  None of that looks like this!
